Bristol battered by Budget

March 25, 2012

Tax rise on cheap booze, fags, Grannies and pasties. Fish and chips is already clobbered but Pasties?? This government is slapping a 20% VAT tax rise on hot pies, sausage rolls and pasties as though this local delicacy working mans grub is some kind of luxury.
The bean-counters obviously don’t swig white cider or nosh-up with tasty Pieministers and Clarks best.
And local lib-dem MP’s must be well happy with the millionaire old Etonians in the cabinet raking in hundreds of thousands.
Bankers bonus budget for Osbournes chums. Why have we got such a bunch of self serving fatcat inbreds and royal relatives running the country? Beats me.
Anyhow lets hope the windfall for billionaire fatcat expats will do the trick and bring them back home to pay their dues to the country that made them rich, mentioning no names. Fat chance.

I’ll take a chance and bet that “no names” returns. Too much going on in this fine city of ours to stay away for long. Holiday homes are fine, but not the same as good old Bris. What odds are you offering?

It must be boring after awhile exiled on a tinpot holiday island, guess they’ll all come running back home someday.

Are you slightly left wing by any chance?? May i remind you why this country is in such a mess! Todays government is just trying to clear up the mess from the previous one.

I’m suprised you can tell the difference between them Baz.

They both supported the illegal war on Iraq. They both supported the £1 trillion bail out of the banks.

Every western nation is in exactly the same debt situation regardless of whether they elected a “left” or “right” wing government as they all spend their money on bombs and banks regardless.

I have a feeling that you could be correct.
After taking a tax break from this country, to enable him to invest the tax saved, back into the city of Bristol, regardless of those fighting to stop him investing in this city, he may well return.

We have a system in place in this country, where the money raised in taxes is sent to central government, who then redistribute it about the nation. Scotland gets a higher percentage pre head than England 40% I think, Wales 20% more and NI 20% more.

Within England, there is also a disparity of the distribution of those funds, with the majority going to cities in the North and at the expence/demise of Bristol.

All that is happening is, that the tax is now being distributed more fairly this way and inwardly directly to Bristol, which has always missed out on major investment from central government.

Fair play to the modern day robin hood, called Mr Steve Lansdown (not no name).
Even Sacredspring should welcome this interception and fair distribution of the sherriffs taxes.

Blasted computer, it keeps changing my user name and making me log in.

And one of them wanted to build 10,000 houses between AV and Dundry.
